"Sophie Kidwell's Cherubino was particularly adept at merging technical mastery with truth in storytelling."

"If the ‘doubt’ half of the conflict is represented by the tenor soloist the hope is depicted in the beautiful recitative and aria for Contralto – beautifully sung by Sophie Kidwell, who has a richly expressive mezzo voice and sang with great feeling and beautiful tone throughout the evening. Her German diction was also impeccable."
(Celebrating Bach Festival - East Cornwall Bach Choir - Bach Cantatas) (24th March 2018)

"Duo Palatino's concert at the Flavel Arts Centre took us far from Dartmouth. From English Lute song to Italian opera and then via German lieder and the Carmen Habanera, we finally arrived at a collection of musical numbers which had the audience tapping along and then listening spellbound to the closing rendition of Gershwin's Summertime. Sophie Kidwell's voice adapts and colours convincingly in all languages and styles, equally at home within pathos, contemplation and sheer joy. So sympathetically accompanied by David Cotter's accomplished guitar playing; here is an ensemble to watch out for."

"The debut recital by Sophie Kidwell (mezzo) and David Cotter (guitar) drew a full house at Ford Park Chapel on 15th April. Deservedly. Both artists are personable and communicate well with the audience and each other. Their programme – A Musical Trip Around The World – was varied in mood as well as geography. Sophie has a big operatic voice with power throughout the range. Her words are clear. She gave us Lieder, lute songs, operatic arias and solos from stage and screen. David has a nimble technique applied to a variety of styles. He accompanies with sensitivity to the phrasing of the singer. His solos included some jazz. Both offered informative introductions with some good stories to boot. A duo to watch."
